The Story Behind Scent by Kent

After years of purchasing high end soaps and toiletry items, it finally hit me “someone is making these products.  Why can’t I?”  Our kitchen soon became a hotbed for creation – soaps, lotions, bath salts, body power, fairy dust for children, facial products and more!  My house smelled incredible and the plethora of goodies on the counters was awe inspiring.  As we shuffled around the kitchen we would catch glimpses of my neighbors sniffing the air as they walked by my house.

With all the oils and base ingredients on hand and my own personal love of adventure, everything was a possibility.  It didn’t take long for my household stock to become more than I could store so off I went to the local craft shows.  The camaraderie with the customers and other crafters was a great experience and it gave me a wonderful opportunity to create new scents and concoctions.  After three years, the responsibilities of  work, family, and life made it difficult to continue to participate in the craft shows.

After a six month break my wonderful husband, Ashley, asked if we could make soap together some time.  So, Saturday mornings became our creative time together.  We’d pull out all of the ingredients and huge pots to melt the hard butters and oils. Actually, having a burly man on hand was an asset as the containers all average fifty pounds. He was happy to be part of the creative process and with every request I made, his response was always, “Your man is here for you.”  We soon found that we made up for each other’s weakness and were a great team.

Together, we make huge slabs of soaps in a variety of fragrances. I create all of the bath salts, bath teas, scrubs and facial products and all are made with the finest ingredients by hand. Since the internet is where I’ve found all of my incredible ingredients, it only makes sense that the internet be the place to share our concoctions.  So in 2007, Scent by Kent was founded, a website created, and the journey has been unfolding each day.  It is our sincere hope that you enjoy our products as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them.
